How Color Harmonies Work

Complementary

Two colors opposite each other on the color wheel (180° apart). Creates strong contrast and makes elements stand out. Ideal for call-to-action buttons and hero sections.

Analogous

Colors adjacent on the color wheel (within ~60°). Creates harmonious, visually pleasing designs with low contrast. Great for backgrounds and layered UI elements.

Triadic

Three colors evenly spaced at 120° intervals on the wheel. Offers vibrant contrast while maintaining balance. Popular for branding and data visualizations.

Split-Complementary

Uses a base color plus two colors adjacent to its complement. Softer than pure complementary but still offers strong visual interest.

Monochromatic

Variations of a single hue with different lightness and saturation levels. Creates a clean, professional, and cohesive look. Perfect for minimal designs.
